CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_PROMPT_SUGGESTION

CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_PROMPT_SUGGESTION is a Claude Code environment variable: Enables a prompt suggestion feature in the Claude Code UI. This likely surfaces contextual follow-up prompts or autocomplete suggestions based on the current conversation state — similar to how ChatGPT shows suggested replies. Removed in v2.1.310, so current releases ignore it. It is listed in the official reference.

How to set it

For one session, export it in the shell that starts Claude Code:

export CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_PROMPT_SUGGESTION=<value>
claude

To apply it to every session, add it to the env object of a settings file:
